About Enamel

A Classic Way to Add Colour to Jewellery

Enamel has been used in jewellery for thousands of years to create vivid, durable details. Today it is used both in traditional craftsmanship and in modern series production – for everything from small colour accents and logos to fully filled surfaces.

We supply enamel and filling colours to goldsmiths, designers and manufacturers who want to give their jewellery a personal and exclusive look.

Cold Enamel and Traditional Enamel

Cold enamel

Cures Without a Kiln

Cold enamel is a coloured filler, often resin-based, that cures at room temperature or with heat or UV light, depending on the product. It does not require an enamelling kiln, which makes it easy to use in the workshop and in series production.

  • No enamelling kiln needed
  • Wide colour range that can be mixed
  • Suitable for recesses, logos and details
Traditional enamel

Glass Fused by Firing

Traditional enamel is finely ground glass that is fused to the metal at high temperature. Techniques such as cloisonné and champlevé produce a hard, glossy surface with great depth, but require a kiln and experience.

  • Hard and highly durable surface
  • Classic techniques such as cloisonné and champlevé
  • Requires an enamelling kiln and a firing process

How Enamel Is Used in Jewellery Production

01

Prepare the surface

Clean and degrease the metal thoroughly so that the enamel adheres evenly.

02

Mix the colour

Choose or mix the desired shade and prepare the enamel according to the product instructions.

03

Fill the recess

Apply the enamel to engraved, etched or laser-cut recesses.

04

Cure and finish

Let the enamel cure. Sand and polish as needed for a smooth, glossy surface.
